I just adopted two kittens from the pound which we renamed Lefty and Jack (we're golf fans). They couldn't be more perfect. They love each other's company and have made themselves right at home here, already cozy in our bed! I think everyone should consider adopting from the pound since these animals seem way more appreciative of the attention and love they receive!! Also, special thanks to Barbe, you are one of a kind and what you do for these animals is awesome-thanks for your help. We will take the best care of these two fellows :)

After looking for almost 2 months(with barbies help) for the perfect cat or dog to fit our family with some unique needs, I was about to give up. I told my self "You will just know when it is right". After visiting the shelter and PetSmart I left again dissapointed. My second trip I realized I hadnt seen one very important thing. It was Tasha, a thirteen year old Siamese kitty!!! The second I saw her, she was mine. Although she was 13 years old, she was born to be mine! She loves to cuddle up under the covers and sleep with us. She only eats the best there is, and she does what she wants when she wants! She will live out the wonderful spoiled rotten life she deserves. We cant stand to be with out her so we take her with us, which she loves too. It is like being a new mommy. She also loves my 3 yr old!

We adopted Ginny on February 1st and she has jumped into the family with all fours. What a wonderful addition. She is getting along with our Shepherd as if they had know each other all their lives. Thank you Barbie for all of your help.

Thank you to the folks in our community who care enough to report abuse, neglect, and mistreatment of animals. We do receive your information and pass it along to our local animal control officers. However, HSCC does not have jurisdiction in this state to investigate and/or seize animals that have never been in our care. Those investigations are handled through local animal control officers in the county where the animal(s) are housed. For example, if the animal(s) are located in Appomattox County, it is best to directly contact Appomattox County Animal Control. Another option for those wishing to report the mistreatment of animals is to contact the State Vet through the Virginia Department of Agriculture. Thanks to those who are the voices of the animals in our area! Keep it up! We are listening!

I adopted my little Elle from HSCC back in August and she has become my baby and love of my life! I now volunteer on a regular basis and love it as well. I wanted to thank Barbe, Melissa, Todd, Dawn, and all our other volunteers who make what we do at HSCC possible!

We have two dogs, one about 3 years old and the other 8 years, both from the Humane Society. They are both wonderful with our children (4 yrs and 1 yr) and perfect additions to our family. Thank you all for the work you do!
