Dog/Pupply Rescue Transport 

The Dog/Puppy Rescue Transport is a program developed by HSCC leader, Barbe Shackelford. There are animal rescue groups in other areas (Northern Virginia, New Jersey, Massachusetts, etc...) that are willing to accept transfers of dogs/puppies from our humane society.  They let us know which animals they want, and pay a fee to cover the vet expenses the animals have inccurred and a pull fee to HSCC. The transport occur weekly. Dogs and puppies are loaded into a vehicle, and a HSCC leader drives the first leg of the journey... then meets up with the next volunteer driver to transfer the dogs to that vehicle... and so on... until the dogs arrive at the destination rescue organization. These rescue groups then find great homes for theses dogs/puppies.

This program has saved the lives of hundreds of dogs and puppies from our local area.  Until recently, our volunteers have been paying for the gasolines expense used for the bi-weekly transports.  With the high cost of fuel, it is becoming unreasonable for these volunteers to cover these expenses out of their own pockets.
