 Cat Care

Please consider helping our homeless cats get ready for their forever home.   E-mail info@humanecampbell.org if you can help.

PETSMART ADOPTION CENTER CAGE CLEANERS:

Cleaning our six cages at the Lynchburg PetSmart Adoption Center takes about 1 to 1-1/2 hours. You may arrive at PetSmart any time after 7 a.m., and the cages need to be cleaned before the opening of the store at 9:00 or 10:00.

The cages at the Lynchburg PetSmart Adoption Center must be cleaned every morning -- if we don't have volunteers to clean the cages, we can't have cats at the Adoption Center.  Keep in mind that this is not the place for anyone who will be bothered by litter box smells or who has an allergy to cats.

Are you:

1) a person who love cats, and

2) really serious about helping homeless animals?

PETSMART ADOPTION CENTER SUBSTITUE CAGE CLEANERS:

We also need cleaners to fill in when our cleaning volunteers are not available to clean on their scheduled day... especially holidays, breaks and summers.  (See description above for details.)

PETSMART ADOPTION CENTER-ADOPTION COUNSELORS:

We are scheduling evening time slots from 5-7pm and 7-9pm and all day Saturday/Sunday in two hour increments.  These are peak adoption times and it helps to "show" our cats when we have volunteers in the center to answer questions.  This requires a regularly scheduled day/time commitment. Responsibilities include tidying cages, changing water bowls, screening potential adopters, and helping adopters complete adoption paperwork.

ADOPTION COUNSELORS/CAT CARE AT THE CAMPBELL COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL FACILITY:
We are scheduling volunteers to act as adoption counselors and assist with cat care at the animal control facility located in Rustburg.  This is the county run pound.  Volunteers at this facility would be responsible for working with cats being held at this location.  Some responsibilities could include freshening water, scooping litterboxes, straightening cages, feeding, socializing, and assisting potential adopters with questions.  We are focusing on scheduling late afternoon hours on Thursdays, Fridays, and from 11-4 on Saturdays as these are the busiest times.

FELINE FACILITY CARE ASSISTANTS:

As a feline care assistant at our private facility, you will have the opportunity to work directly with many of the cats/kittens in our care.  The cats at this facility are being readied for adoption.  Volunteers assist with feeding, watering, cleaning cages as well as our two colony rooms and working to socialize the cats/kittens. This position requires a regularly scheduled day/time commitment.

FELINE TRANSPORT:

We often need assistance getting cats to vet appointments in order to get them ready for adoption.  We have a regularly scheduled clinic day at the spay/neuter clinic.  If you are available Tuesday and Wednesday mornings this may be a volunteer opportunity for you.  This requires approximately an hour time commitment between 7:30 and 8:30am.  We also periodically have appointments scheduled at animal hospitals around the area.  If you can assist with tranportation, this is a great way to help the cats on their way to their forever homes.
