Mission statement: The HSCC does not have its own animal care facility. We are a group of caring volunteers who support and work with the Campbell County Animal Control Facility. Our goal is to reduce the numbers of unwanted, lost and stray animals euthanized in our county by increasing adoptions, and promoting spays and neuters of companion pets. We do this through adoption fairs at the Lynchburg Petsmart, adoptions directly from the Campbell County AC Facility, and through transport of animals to other rescues and shelters. We also use foster caregivers for intermediate care of animals who are being treated for disease, or who have had surgery and are waiting for forever homes.

Volunteer Opportunities

PetsMart Meet and Greet Dog Fairs

Adoption Assistants:

Held weekly; hold a leash and help socialize and promote dogs and puppies who are looking for homes. Four-hour commitment required per adoption fair.

One-Time Volunteeer Opportunities

Animal Control Facility Tasks:

Walk dogs, cuddle puppies, calm cats at the Campbell County Animal Care Facility. Two hour commitment needed, between the hours of 12 and 5 on weekdays, or 11 and 4 on Saturdays.
